It had been a hell of a day for talking too. But I wasn't going to get into that until I was sure it was safe to do so.
"Do you remember my husband?" She stood back and motioned at him.
I nodded. "Of course, I do. How could I forget? I was a junior and he was in the last days of his reign as principal when he visited one of my classes that year."
"What a memory you have," Ms. Sorens said.
"Thanks. It helps in my line of work," I said.
She glanced around me. "Where's Sam?"
I stepped aside and waved them both inside. "In the backyard getting some stuff ready for the party."
Ms. Sorens's cheeks turned bright pink as if she were embarrassed, and she glanced at her feet.
Mr. Link cleared his throat. "If there is anything you need, Jack, be sure to let us know," He took a step closer and looked me in the eyes.
"I'm good Mr. Link. Thanks though. How have you been?"
Mr. Link blinked several times then gave his chin a couple of hard jerks. "Fine. Thank you." His voice was curt. "We look forward to speaking with your mother soon."
What the fuck is he talking about? He looks like he's waiting to speak with the President, not my mom.
I closed the door and followed them outside.
Milo was chatting with them and his smile faded as soon as they walked past him.
I grabbed Milo by the arm and spun him around. I whispered harshly into his ear. "You invited your asshole dad and Mrs. S' bitch sister? Are you out of your fucking mind?"
"Mom said we have to invite them. What am I going to do?"
I shook my head and let out a long breath. It was hard to think straight. Why hadn't Mrs. S called me and given me a heads up? There had to be a logical explanation for this madness, but my head was still spinning.
I turned back to Mr. Link and smiled as warmly as I could manage. I stuck my hand out for him to shake, but he stared at it as if it were infected with the plague. "You look great, sir."
"Do I?"
"Yes."
His gaze swept the length of my body from head to toe. He wrinkled his face. "Is that all there is to say?"
Say to whom? How did Mr. Link and his hot wife, get back here anyway? Did they take a wrong turn or something?
Sarah Sorens, aka Mrs. Link, took a step closer, offering her hand. "Good to see you, Jack. It's been a while."
I grinned like a jackal. Her brown hair had more highlights, and she was dressed conservatively as usual, but a hell of a lot better than she'd dressed during our four years of high school together. In fact, her light blue V-neck sweater accentuated a much-improved rack, and a tight pencil skirt hugged her curves. If I didn't know better, I'd say this was an entirely different woman.
My cock gave a little jerk. My fantasy of banging Sarah Sorens might still be possible if Mr.
